1950s Printed Cotton Dress | S

$348.00

Stunning 1950s printed cotton dress that deserves a day at the Metropolitan Museum of Art! Just look at this print!!! Thanks to @patternplayusa I learned about this incredible cotton fabric. It’s called ‘Exotica’ and was designed by Aaron Bohrod of the Associated American Artists c. 1952. It was produced in the apparel weight by Lowenstein. The fabric is a real star of Mid-Century modern fabric design and the dress is beautiful, too. Win Win.

Dress features sweetheart bust trimmed with prong-set rhinestones, leaf-like shoulder ties, sleeveless fitted bodice with bust darts, full skirt, velvet trimmed pockets in front surrounded prong-set rhinestones, light muslin skirt lining for some shape and hidden side metal zipper closure topped off with a hook & eye.

Era: 1950s

Label: n/a

Fabric: cotton & rhinestones

Measurements:

Bust: 35”

Waist: 27”

Hips: open

Length: 43.5”

Approximate Modern Size: Small

Condition: Excellent! Ever so slight color bleed around the velvet trim on pockets, ties and armholes (you have to really be looking for it to notice). I almost didn’t even mention this because its so slight and I can’t even capture on camera but I try to always mention anything however slight. The muslin skirt lining has some tears but it creates nice shape and is not seen and structurally sound so I left in in — you can always remove if you want (but you won’t want to…lol).
